Heh: Mossad spy in charge of Syrian nuke program

Those Jews are everywhere, aren't they?
Tarek Abdel-Razek, who was arrested in Syria last week for allegedly gathering intelligence for Mossad, revealed while he was undergoing investigation the identity of another alleged spy in Syria, saying he was a senior officer who was in charge of the regime's nuclear project in Damascus, reported the Egyptian newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm on Wednesday.

According to the report, Razek told investigators that the Syrian officer's name is Salah a-Najam, a colonel in Syria's military intelligence. He claimed that Najam seved as an agent of Mossad for many years and received a million and a half dollars from the Israelis.

Razek also said he met with Najam several times in Damascus and received information from him on the development of Syria's nuclear program, the location of nuclear facilities and sites where radioactive was was buried. The information, according to Najam, was transferred to an Israeli nuclear expert and contributed to the attack on the nuclear reactors in the Syrian desert in September 2007.
And my guess and hope is that Najam is long since gone from Syria.

Heh.

My what a powerfully articulate argument Green presents! Positively Churchillian! /sarc

Meanwhile, back on Planet Earth, there's a couple of very interesting articles in today's JPost. "Mossad, US, UK cooperating to sabotage Iran nukes" and "Iran says it arrested killers of nuclear scientists"

It's intriguing, trying to connect the dots from these articles and on what else is publicly known about events in Iran and the world.

My guess is that Israel put it to the US, or more precisely, Netanyahu put it to Obama, "If you're not going to bomb the Iranian nuclear weapons facilities, we will." This multi-national intelligence/covert war on their nuclear weapons program is the alternative that the three Governments have agreed on as an alternative method of stopping the Mad Mullahs from getting nukes.

So far, it's been made public that FIVE Iranian nuclear weapons program scientists have been assassinated, plus another wounded in an attempted assassination. The dead include top physicists AND the head computer scientist in charge of their nuclear weapons program computers. He was also leading the effort to attempt to clean out the Stuxnet worm from the thousands of networked computers used in the program. Excellent choice of "wet work" targets.

For those like me, interested in history, the WW2 Peenemunde bombing campaign is instructive. Even worse for the Nazi missile program than the bombed facilities was the death of many of the program's top scientists, engineers. Buildings, labs and factories can be rebuilt but the deaths of so many key scientists and engineers is what really hurt and delayed their missile development program.

Apparently, the big damage from this Stuxnet worm has been to the uranium enrichment centrifuges. From what I've read, these centrifuge controls have to keep the centrifuges spinning at extremely precise and constant speeds and the Stuxnet worm has caused the controls to spin at varying speeds, damaging the delicate centrifuge motors beyond further use and mucking up the uranium within the centrifuges. Note also the article's reference to an explosion killing 18 techs at their missile factory hidden in the mountains.

All of this suggests to me that this scenario of the CIA and British SIS working with the Israeli MOSSAD is very plausible. To succeed in all those assassinations, plus the bombing at the missile plant, plus develop such a highly sophisticated and specialized computer worm AND get it into the Iranian nuclear weapons program networked computers is an incredibly successful, very complex multi-front espionage campaign. Some very smart, highly skilled people have been doing a damn good job.

So far, so good-with more to follow, I suspect and hope.

WUPS! My apologies for the multiple posts. When I hit the Publish button, it kept saying error, the post was too long. So I repeatedly eliminated some text and re-attempted to Publish.
